The Centenary logo

“As something willed by God”

For the fmGB Sisters, the triennium 2026–2029 is a time dedicated to the celebration of three centenaries.

The logo that gathers these three celebrations draws inspiration from the very words of the Mother Foundress, who, in speaking of her Institute, described it as “as something willed by God” (Letter 321). In this title, the gaze and the voice of Mother Mary Joseph come alive once more, embracing the story of the religious family from its origins and tracing its journey through time.

It is her presence that gently accompanies the moments of celebration throughout this triennium, through words imbued with hope, courage, and vision.

For this reason, each year the logo will be paired with a passage from the writings of Sr. Mary Joseph, so that her memory may be kept alive among us.

CENTENARY OF THE
TRANSLATION (of the remains):
“I am always among you”
(Letter 288)
CENTENARY OF THE
MISSIONARY SENDING:
“I shall come with you”
(Letter 34)
ONE HUNDRED AND
FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF
THE FOUNDATION:
“and may they run to the aid of all”
(Summary 2)

The logo, moreover, weaves together the centenary of the translation of the Mother’s body, the centenary of the first missionary sending, and the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the foundation, through the presence of symbols and signs that gently evoke the profound themes of these celebrations.

The numbers 100 and 150

Within the logo, the two figures appear united, as though merged into one. Time and its passing are gathered into the unity of the history and the shared journey of the fmGB Sisters.

The star

The star in the sky guides the steps of those who journey: it represents a constant, a steadfast point of reference. It is the sign of Mother Foundress, the source of inspiration and support for the fmGB Sisters. Since 1926, her mortal remains have rested in the Chapel of the Retreat of St. Anthony. In the blue vaults of our church, a starry sky is painted: the star of Sr. Mary Joseph is a light that draws toward the future and a sure guide in the present.

The path

the blue band that crosses the logo carries a dual meaning—trail and path. It represents a journey: that of the first missionary sisters in the Peruvian Amazon, and that of every sister who follows the Lord’s call. It is a path that crosses boundaries and moves beyond familiar horizons.

The seeds

the foundation of the Institute of the fmGB Sisters has a humble and small beginning, like a seed that falls to the earth and, hidden, germinates. This silent offering allows new life to emerge and enables other seeds to bear fruit and enrich the earth. Everything is simple and ordinary, and yet everything is wonder and miracle: as in the prodigious healing of Barbara Micarelli and in the first group of sisters who gathered around her and her dream of being for all “the Mother”.
