The journey of the Extraordinary General Chapter continued, and we chose to dedicate the last day of the year to praise and thanksgiving for 2025. Meanwhile, on the afternoon of the 31st, Sr. Mabel joined us and joined the capitulars.
December 31 and January 1 were special days, alternating between moments of work and opportunities for reflection and prayer. On the morning of December 31, we began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of L’Aquila, Monsignor Antonio d’Angelo. In the afternoon, we listened together to a meditation by Father George Massinelli, OFM, entitled Ringratiate et serviateli cum grande humilitate” (Give thanks and serve them with great humility), followed by a moment of prayer and personal silence, before gathering to sing the Te Deum together at Vespers in the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels at the Porziuncola. In the evening, with a moment of celebration and fraternity, we welcomed the new year 2026!
The following days we continued the chapter work individually, in groups, or in assembly. The work is coming to an end with great commitment and satisfaction on the part of all. Today, January 4, was enriched by the feast of Mother General Sr. Lorella, entrusted to the special protection of St. Angela of Foligno. During the Eucharist, Fr. Francesco Piloni OFM invited us to make minority a distinctive trait, and so this became our wish for Sr. Lorella: to always remain in the joyful following of the Lord in the generous service that has now been entrusted to her.
